Somalia’s Lean Season: Children at Risk of Malnutrition

Each year, Somalia faces a “lean season” — the difficult months between harvests when food runs short and hunger deepens. For young children, this period is especially dangerous, with rising rates of acute malnutrition.

Through our Somalia Appeal, Hayat Charity is working with partners to provide emergency food and life-saving therapeutic nutrition for children at risk. A specialised nutrition pack can help a malnourished child recover, while a £15 food pack feeds a whole family for a week.

Your support — Zakat-eligible and Gift Aid claimable — helps families survive the hardest months of the year.
